View this rundown of basic Japanese expressions with interpretations from: Japanese to English or English to Japanese 

Hai/はい - Yes 

Iie/いいえ - No 

O-genki desu ka? /おげんきですか - How are you? 

Genki desu/げんきです - I'm fine 

Yoroshiku onegai shimasu/よろしくおねがいします - When it is said amid an initially meeting, it signifies "Let us have a decent relationship", "Please treat me well". It can likewise be said when requesting some help, signifying "Please", "Make it so", "I'm surrendering it over to you".

Watashi/わたし - I (male or female) 

Atashi/あたし - I (female) 

Boku/ぼく - I (male) 

Metal/おれ - I (male) 

Watashi no (わたしの)/Atashi no (あたしの)/Boku no (ぼくの)/Ore no (おれの) - My

O-namae wa nan desu ka? - What is your name? 

Watashi no namae wa (name) desu - My name will be (name) 

Watashi wa (name) desu - I am (name) 

Gomen (nasai)*/ごめんなさい - I'm sad 

Sumimasen/すみません - A generally useful word for Excuse me/I am sad/Thank you 

Kore wa, nan desu ka? - What's this? 

Kore wa, (Nihongo de) nan to iimasu ka? - What's this called (in Japanese)? 

Domo/どうも - Thanks 

Arigatou (gozaimasu)**/ありがとうございます - Thank you 

Domo arigatou (gozaimasu)**/どうもありがとうございます - Thank you in particular 

Doitashimashite - You're invite 

Ganbatte kudasai - Good fortunes/Give it your best (uplifting statements) 

Sumimasen ga, tasukete itadakemasen ka? - Excuse me, would you be able to help me please? 

Wakarimasen - I don't get it 

Eigo o hanasemasuka? - Do you communicate in English? 

Nihongo (yoku) hanasemasen - I can't communicate in Japanese (well) 

Nihongo wa (amari) hanase masen - I don't talk (much) Japanese 

Denwa bango wa nan boycott desu ka? - What is your telephone number? 

Denwa bango wa (number) desu - My number will be (number) 

Abunai/あぶない - Look out/Dangerous 

Ki o tsukete/きをつけて - Be cautious 

Toire wa doko desu ka - Where is the washroom?
