Amid the Meiji period, Tabata was a peaceful nation town and today it is home to various renowned craftsmanship historical centers.
Tabata Station (田端 – edge of the rice field) is a little station that initially opened in 1896. There are only two ways out, north and south. There's not much to see on the south side, but rather the north door opens straight onto the Atré Vie shopping center. Here you can discover a ベーカリー, a market, a スターバックスStarbucks, a 弁当 store and a few 韓国, イタリア and 日本 eateries.
The 北口 of Tabata Station is likewise near the Writers and Artists Memorial Museum and up until 1927, numerous well known craftsmen and 作家 lived in Tabata, attributable to its nearness to the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.
The most celebrated essayist to call the territory home was 芥川龍之介, writer of 羅生門 and 藪の中, the works whereupon the well known Akira Kurosawa film "Rashomon" is based. In the first place release duplicates and compositions of Akutagawa's work, and the works of other 有名作家 and specialists can be seen the 田端文士村記念館.
Akutagawa submitted 自殺 in 1927 and his passing spelled the end of what had ended up known as the Tabata Artists' Village.
