Mejiro Station sits alongside Gakushuin University which opened in 1847 and initially constrained participation just to individuals from the Imperial family. 

Mejiro Station (目白駅 – whites of the eyes station) has only one プラットフォーム and one 出口. The station building itself houses a パン屋さん and a bistro and a few littler shops, ideal for getting a nibble and a コーヒー on your regular drive. 

The 入り口 to Mejiro Station rises onto the Mejiro Dori, a genuinely bustling avenue. Turning 左 in the wake of leaving the station will take you to a bustling 商店街 with heaps of stores, eateries and bistros. 

Turning 右 will put you at the doors of the Gakushuin University. When it was established in 1847, Gakushuin was a school just for the 子供 of respectability and the Imperial family. It was held by the royal family until 1947 when it turned into a 私立大学. Most individuals from the living majestic family have gone to Gakushuin University.
